Game-time: Monday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 pm at Sofi Stadium - *remember no tailgating allowed😡
The 14-0 Georgia Bulldogs head back to the National Championship for a second year in a row to take on the 13-1 TCU Horned Frogs. Game time is set for Monday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 pm at Sofi Stadium in LA (No tailgating allowed). Both quarterbacks, Stetson Bennett for the Dogs and Max Duggan for the Horned Frogs, were Heisman finalists.
The line opened as Georgia being a -13.5 point favorite and has bounced around a bit. Currently the consensus sits at -12.5 points with BetRivers and Unibet offering down to -12. The public seems to love TCU as the underdog, with 81% of the bets on TCU to cover the 13.5-point spread (Now down to 12.5). Straight-up money is also leaning heavily on TCU with 70% of bets.
TCU had a great season with some exciting games and took on the role as underdog who pushed their way into the Championship game. They have a great quarterback who will be playing at the next level. Heading into the National Championship game there is a lot of excitement from the public surrounding TCU after the performance the TCU offense displayed against Michigan. That excitement has led to quite a bit of early money on the Horned Frogs.
Georgia has also played very well all season. The Dawgs defense has been very consistent and Stetson does a good job of managing the game, even if that was not totally the case last week against Ohio State. Georgia had to come from behind with 18 fourth quarter points and needing a missed field goal by the Buckeyes to pull out the victory. The defense allowed 348 yards in the air and another 119 on the ground. Watching the game, the offense seemed out of sync and lackluster at times, but interestingly enough Bennett still threw for nearly 400 yards and a TD.
Georgia will be looking closely at game film and working double-time to get their defense back on track. They should be coming into this game with a chip on their shoulder and ready to prove why they are ranked #1. TCU has been explosive but we're not so sure they can continue this vs Georgia and their defense. TCU may also be without its top running back Kendre Miller, who is still questionable after an injury in last week's Michigan game.
For the first time this season, the Bulldogs are coming into this game with something to prove. They've only had one game all season where they weren't favored by double digits and that was against Tennessee. They were favored by 9.5 and won 27 - 13.
*Take Note - There was also a lot of excitement and money on the Vols going into the game.
Our prediction is that Georgia will get back on track. They should be able to slow TCU and wear them down as the game continues. We like the Bulldogs to pull away in the second half.
MyWager Prediction: Georgia to WIN and COVER the 12.
